Cocoa production is one of the most important sources of income for five to six million farmers. It feeds a total of 40 to 50 million people. But these farmers don’t get rich. According to the Cocoa Barometer 2015, their share of overall value added is a mere 6.6 per cent. A new UNCTAD report shows how the situation of smallholders could be improved.
